I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is custom domains and theming — handled better than most — and built-in AI search and chat for end users. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. MDX authoring with prebuilt components is exactly what I needed, and built-in AI search and chat for end users. I do wish hosted-only; limited self-hosting options, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. AI-powered search and chat assistant just works and git-based workflow with automatic deploys. Less flexible than fully custom doc sites can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.
