Panoramica

Pause is a writing assistant designed to slow down impulsive communication. It scans drafts—emails, messages, posts—for signs of cognitive bias, charged emotional tone, and language patterns associated with later regret, then offers suggestions before the message goes out. Rather than rewriting your words automatically, Pause highlights potential issues and explains why they might cause problems. This makes it useful for professionals navigating sensitive conversations, anyone managing online interactions, or people working on more deliberate communication habits.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and helps reduce regrettable messages. Regret risk scoring fits neatly into how we already work, and cognitive bias detection in drafts removed a step we used to do by hand. Adds friction to quick replies, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Regret risk scoring is exactly what I needed, and encourages more deliberate communication. I do wish bias detection can be subjective, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: cognitive bias detection in drafts and catches emotionally charged language before sending. Where it lags: bias detection can be subjective. On balance the feature set — especially works across messages and emails — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Cognitive bias detection in drafts just works and helps reduce regrettable messages. but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on works across messages and emails, and catches emotionally charged language before sending caught me off guard. still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.
