Pregled

Skyfire is a payments platform built specifically for AI agents, giving them the ability to send, receive, and authorize transactions without human intervention at every step. It acts as a financial layer for the emerging agent economy, where software agents purchase data, services, or compute from other agents and APIs. The platform issues programmable credentials and spending controls so developers can define budgets, rules, and permissions for what an agent is allowed to buy. Transactions are tracked and auditable, helping businesses adopt agentic workflows while maintaining oversight. Skyfire targets developers building autonomous agents, API providers monetizing access to AI clients, and enterprises exploring machine-to-machine commerce as a new revenue and operational channel.

Autonomous Agent-to-API Purchases

Let AI agents pay for data, compute, or third-party APIs on demand using programmable credentials, removing the need for manual checkout or human approval at each step.

Monetize APIs for AI Clients

API providers can accept payments directly from AI agents, opening a new revenue channel by serving the growing population of autonomous software buyers.

Budget-Controlled Agent Workflows

Developers set spending limits, rules, and permissions per agent so businesses can deploy agentic automation while maintaining financial guardrails and oversight.

Agent-to-Agent Commerce

Enable machine-to-machine transactions where one agent purchases services from another, with auditable logs to track every exchange in multi-agent systems.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: support for agent-to-agent and agent-to-service payments and auditable transaction history. Where it lags: niche use case tied to agent adoption. On balance the feature set — especially autonomous agent payment APIs — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on spending rules and budget enforcement, and auditable transaction history caught me off guard. Ecosystem of supported merchants still growing is why this isn't a perfect score, still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Spending rules and budget enforcement just works and enables machine-to-machine commerce. Ecosystem of supported merchants still growing can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is identity and wallet provisioning for agents — handled better than most — and programmable spending limits and controls. Requires technical integration is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and purpose-built for autonomous agent payments. Identity and wallet provisioning for agents fits neatly into how we already work, and identity and wallet provisioning for agents removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.
