Aperçu

Sweep is an AI-powered developer tool that converts plain-language issues into working code changes. By integrating with repositories and issue trackers, it reads tickets, plans modifications across relevant files, and opens pull requests for human review. It targets routine maintenance and small-to-medium feature work, helping engineering teams reduce backlog and free up time for higher-level design. Sweep iterates on its own output using test results and reviewer feedback, refining changes until they pass checks or are approved.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: support for bug fixes and feature requests and iterates on feedback and CI results. On balance the feature set — especially self-correction from test failures — justifies the 5 stars for our use case.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is human-in-the-loop review workflow — handled better than most — and reduces time spent on small tickets and chores. Quality depends on clear issue descriptions is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Use it every day

Honestly didn't expect to like it this much. Support for bug fixes and feature requests is exactly what I needed, and turns issues into reviewable PRs automatically. I do wish limited usefulness on poorly documented codebases, but I reach for it almost every day now and it just clicks.
