Yleiskatsaus

Vaultaire is an iOS app that secures private photos, videos and documents behind a pattern-based encryption system combined with a zero-knowledge architecture. Because keys are derived on-device and never transmitted, the developer cannot access or recover user content, making the vault genuinely private by design. The app is built for people who want stronger protection than a standard hidden album, such as journalists, travelers or anyone storing sensitive personal files. Content is encrypted locally before being stored, and access requires the user's chosen unlock pattern rather than a simple PIN. Vaultaire focuses on a single job—keeping iPhone media private—rather than acting as a full cloud suite, which keeps the experience straightforward and the attack surface small.

Pääominaisuudet

Käyttötapaukset

Protect sensitive source material for journalists

Journalists can store photos, videos and documents from sensitive assignments in a zero-knowledge vault, ensuring that source material stays private even if the device is inspected.

Secure personal media while traveling

Travelers can lock private photos and files behind a pattern-based vault, reducing exposure if their iPhone is lost, stolen or subjected to border checks.

Hide private photos and videos from casual access

Users can move personal images and clips out of the standard Photos app into an encrypted vault that requires a pattern unlock, going beyond a basic hidden album.

Store confidential documents on iPhone

Individuals can keep IDs, contracts or financial documents encrypted locally on their iPhone, with keys generated on-device so no third party can access the content.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is encrypted photo and video storage — handled better than most — and pattern-based unlock adds a non-standard barrier. Lost pattern means lost data with no recovery is my one real gripe. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Skeptical, then convinced

I went in skeptical — most tools in this space overpromise. It actually delivers on zero-knowledge encryption architecture, and focused, single-purpose design caught me off guard. still, I'd recommend giving it a real trial.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and on-device key handling. Secure file storage for documents fits neatly into how we already work, and secure file storage for documents removed a step we used to do by hand. IPhone only, no Android or desktop, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. On-device key generation just works and supports photos, videos and general files. IPhone only, no Android or desktop can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.
