Resumen

AI Spend is a monitoring dashboard built for teams and developers using the OpenAI API. It tracks token usage and associated costs in real time, giving a clearer picture of where budget is going across models, projects, and time periods. The tool sends automated notifications when spending crosses defined thresholds, helping prevent surprise bills and runaway usage. Detailed breakdowns make it easier to spot unusual activity, optimize model choice, and forecast future API expenses.

Funciones clave

  • Automated spend notifications
  • Per-model cost breakdowns
  • Historical usage trends
  • Threshold-based budget alerts
  • Token consumption analytics

Prevent runaway OpenAI API bills

Set spending thresholds and receive automated alerts when usage spikes, helping teams avoid surprise charges from unexpected API consumption.

Optimize model selection by cost

Use per-model cost breakdowns to identify which OpenAI models drive the most spend and shift workloads toward more cost-effective options.

Forecast API budgets for projects

Analyze historical usage trends and token consumption patterns to project future OpenAI costs and plan budgets across teams or projects.

Detect unusual API activity

Monitor real-time dashboards to spot anomalies in token usage or cost spikes that may indicate bugs, misuse, or leaked API keys.

Does the job

Pretty happy overall. Live usage and cost dashboard just works and configurable spending alerts and thresholds. Less useful for very low-volume users can be annoying, but no dealbreakers — I'd recommend it to a friend without hesitating.

Years in this space

I've evaluated a lot of these over the years. What stands out here is live usage and cost dashboard — handled better than most — and configurable spending alerts and thresholds. Worth the time if this is your use case.

Solid for our team

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and configurable spending alerts and thresholds. Threshold-based budget alerts fits neatly into how we already work, and per-model cost breakdowns removed a step we used to do by hand. but it has held up under daily use.

We rolled this out across the team last quarter and configurable spending alerts and thresholds. Less useful for very low-volume users, which is the main caveat, but it has held up under daily use.

Compared a few options

Evaluated this against two competitors. Where it wins: threshold-based budget alerts and clear breakdowns by model and usage type. Where it lags: less useful for very low-volume users. On balance the feature set — especially live usage and cost dashboard — justifies the 4 stars for our use case.
